These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into [any] city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

８節
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

病める者を癒せ、癩病の者を淨（きよ）めよ、死人を起せ、悪鬼を逐ひ出だせよ。汝等価なしに受けたれば、価なしに与えよ。

９節
Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

汝等帯に金子をも、また銀子（ぎんす）をも、また銭をも用意する勿れ。

１０節
Nor scrip for [your] journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

旅路のために糧袋（かてぶくろ）をも、また二つの下衣をも、また鞋をも、また杖をも〔用意する〕勿れ。そは働き人はその食物の値あればなり。

And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

またいづれの市（まち）、あるいは村にても入り来れ、そのうちの値ある者を捜（さ）ぐれ。また出で来るまでそこに逗（とど）まれ。

１２節
And when ye come into an house, salute it.

また家に入り来るとき、これに挨拶せよ。

１３節
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

かくてその家もし如何にも値せば、汝等の平和はその上に到るべし。されどもし値せずば、汝等の平和は汝等の許に帰るべし。

１４節
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

また誰も汝等を受けず、また汝等の言を聞かざらんには、その家或ひは、その市を出で来るとき、汝等の足の塵を振り払へ。

１５節
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

誠にわれ汝等に云はん、裁の日にはソドムとゴモラの地は、そに市より尚耐え易からん。

１６節
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

見よ、われ汝等を使はさん、狼の真中にある羊の如し。是の故に蛇の如く怜き者、また鴿の如く淳（すなお）なる者たれよ。

１７節
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

またひとに心せよ。そは汝等を議会に付し、また汝等を会堂にて鞭（むちう）つべければなり。　　　　　　

１８節
And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

また汝等我の故に、太守（たいしゅ）等及び王等の前にも曳かるべし、彼等と国人とに証するため〔なり〕。

１９節
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

されど人々汝等を付すとき、如何にまた何を話たるべきかと心遣ひする勿れ。そはその時話たるべきことは汝等に与えらるべければなり。

２０節
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

そは話たる者は汝等にあらず、されど汝等のうちに〔おはして〕話たり給ふ汝等の父の霊〔におはせば〕なり。

２１節
And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against [their] parents, and cause them to be put to death.

されど兄弟は兄弟を死に付し、また父は児を〔付さん〕。かくて児等は双親に逆らひて起ち上がり、是を死罪に処するならん。

２２節
And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

また汝等は我が名のゆゑに、すべての者より憎まるるならん。されど終まで耐へ忍ぶ者、此の者は救はるべし。

２３節
But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

されば人々此の市にて汝等を迫害するといくは、別〔の市〕に遁れよ。そは誠に」われ汝等に云はん、必ず汝等は人の子の到るまでに、イスラエルの市々を〔巡り〕終らざるべければなり。　　　　　　　

２４節
The disciple is not above [his] master, nor the servant above his lord.

弟子は師に勝らず、また奴僕はその主に。

２５節
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more [shall they call] them of his household?

弟子はその師の如く、また奴僕はその主の如くならば足る。もし家の主人をベルゼブルと呼ばば、況（ま）してその家の者をや。

２６節
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

是の故に彼等を懼るる勿れ。そは蔽はれて現れざるものなく、また隠れて知れざるものなければなり。

２７節
What I tell you in darkness, [that] speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, [that] preach ye upon the housetops.

闇のうちにて我が汝等に云ふことを、光のうちにいへ、また汝等耳のうちに聞くことを、屋の上にて宣べよ。

２８節
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

また汝等は體を殺して、魂を殺すこと能はざる者より懼るる勿れ。されど反って魂をも體をも、ゲヘナに亡ぼし得る者を懼れよ。

２９節
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

二つの雀は一銭にて売るにあらずや。然るに汝等の父の〔許〕なくしては、その一つも地に落つることなし。

３０節
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

また汝等の頭の髪さへみな数へられてあり、

Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

是の故に懼るる勿れ。汝等は多くの雀より優るるなり。

３２節
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

是の故にすべて我を人々の前にて告白する者、彼をば我も天に〔おはす〕我が父の前にて告白すべし。

３３節
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.　

されど誰にても人々の前にて我を否む者、彼をば我も天に〔おはす〕我が父の前にて否むべし。　　　　　　

３４節
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

われ地に平和を出だすために到れりと思ふ勿れ。平和を出だすためにあらず、されど剣を〔出だすために〕到れり。

３５節
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

そは我人をその父に逆らいひ、また娘をその母に逆らひ、また嫁をその姑に逆らひて分かれしむるために到りたればなり。

３６節
And a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household.

即ち人の敵はその家の者〔なり〕。

３７節
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

我に勝りて父或は母を懇（ねんごろ）にする者は我に値せざる者なり。また我に勝りて子或ひは娘を懇（ねんごろ）にする者は我に値せざる者なり。

３８節
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

また己の十字架を取らずして、我が後ろに従ふ者は我に値せざる者なり。

３９節
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

己が魂を見出したる者はこれを亡ふべく、また我がために己が魂を亡へる者はこれを見出すべし。　　　　　

４０節
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

汝等を受くる者は我を愛く。また我を受くる者は我を使はし給ひし者を受く。

４１節
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

豫言者の名に於て豫言者を受くる者は豫言者の報（むくい）を受く。また義しき者の名に於て義しき人を受くる者は義しき者の報を受く。

４２節
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold [water] only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

また誰にても弟子の名に於て唯冷かなる〔水〕一杯を、此等の小さき者の一〔人〕に飲ましむる者は、誠にわれ汝等に云はん、必ずその報を亡はざるべし。
