Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
看(み)られんがために人々(ひとびと)の前(まえ)に、汝等(なんじら)の施(ほどこし)を為(な)さざるよう心(こころ)せよ。されどもし然(しか)らずば、天(あめ)に〔おはす〕汝等(なんじら)の父(ちち)の前(まえ)に報(むく)を得(え)じ。

Therefore when thou doest [thine] alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
是(これ)の故(ゆえ)に汝(なんじ)、施(ほどこし)を為(な)すときは、人々(ひとびと)よる頌(ほ) めらるるために、会堂(かいどう)なた衢(ちまた) に於(おい)て、偽善者等(ぎぜんしゃら)の為(な)す如(ごと)く、己(おのれ)が前(まえ)にて喇叭(らっぱ)を鳴(な)らす勿(なか)れ。誠(まこと)にわれ汝等(なんじら)に云(い)はん、彼等(かれら)はその報(むく)を得(え)たり。

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
されど汝(なんじ)、施(ほどこ)を為(な)すとき、汝(なんじ)の右(みぎ)の手(て)の為(な)すことを、左(ひだり)の手(て)に知(し)らしむる勿(なか)れ。

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
是(こ)れ汝(なんじ)の施(ほどこし)の隠(かく)るるためなり。されば隠(かく)れたるに視給(みたま)ふ汝の父(ちち)は、顕(あらわ)に汝に酬(むく)い給(たま)ふべし。

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
また汝祈(いの)るとき、偽(ぎ)善(ぜん)者(しゃ)等の如(ごと)くあるべからず、そは彼等は人に顕(あら)はるるために、会(かい)堂(どう)また大(おお)路(じ)の角(かど)に立(た)ちて祈(いの)ることを好(こ)めばなり。誠(まこと)にわれ汝等(なんじら)に云(い)はん、彼等(かれら)はその報(むく)を得(え)たり。

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
されど汝祈(なんじいの)るときは、汝(なんじ)の部屋(へや)に入(はい)り来(きた)り、且(か)つ戸(と)を鍵(かぎ)して、隠(かく)れたるに〔おはす〕汝の父(ちち)に祈(いの)れ。されば隠(かく)れたるに視給(みたま)ふ汝の父は、顕(あらわ)に酬(むく)い給(たま　)ふべし。

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
また汝等祈(なんじらいの)るときは、異邦人(いほうじん)の如(ごと)く空(から)しき祈(いの)りを繰(く)り返(かえ)し言(げん)をなす勿(なか)れ。そは彼等(かれら)は言多(げんおお)ければ聞(き)　き入(い)れらるるならんと思(おも)えばなり。

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
是(これ)の故(ゆえ)に彼等(かれら)に等(ひと)しからざれ。そは汝等(なんじら)の父(ちち)は、汝等の求(もと)むるに先(さき)んじて、汝等が要(よう)するものを知(し)り給(たま　)へばなり。

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
是(これ)の故(ゆえ)に汝等(なんじら)はかく祈(いの)れ。天(あめ)に〔おわす〕我等(われら)の父(ちち)よ、御名(みな)の聖(せい)められ給(たま　)はんことを。

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
御国(おくに)を来(き)たらしめ給(たま)へ。御意(みこころ)の天(あめ)に於(おい)ける如(ごと)く、地(ち)の上(うえ)にもならし給(たま　)へ。

Give us this day our daily bread.
我等(われら)のパン、無(な)くてならね物(もの)を、今日我等(きょうわれら)に与(あた)え給(たま　)へ。

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
また我等(われら)の債人(おいめびと)に我等も赦(ゆる)すが故(ゆえ)に、我等の債(おいめ)を我等に赦(ゆる)し給(たま　)へ。

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
また我等(われら)を試(ため)のうちに導(みちび)き給(たま　)はず、されど悪(あく)より我等を援(すく)ひ出(だ)し給(たま　)へ。そは国(くに)と力(ちから)と栄光(えいこう)とは、世々(よよ)に至(いた)るまで汝(なんじ)のものなればなり。アメン。

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
そは汝等(なんじら)もし人(ひと)にその曲事(きょくじ)を赦(ゆる)さば、天(あめ)なる汝等の父(ちち)は汝等にも赦(ゆる)し給(たま　)ふべければなり。

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
されど汝等もし人にその曲(きょく)事(じ)を赦(ゆる)さずば、汝等の父も汝等の曲事を赦し給はざるべし。

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
また汝等断(だん)食(じき)するとき、偽(ぎ)善(ぜん)者(しゃ)等(ら)の如(ごと)く曇(くも)りがちなる容(よう)子(こ)になる勿(なか)れ。そは彼等(かれら)は断食(だんじき)することの人(ひと)に顕(あら)はるるやう、その顔(かお)を見苦(みぐる)しうすればなり。誠(まこと)にわれ汝等に云(い)はん、彼等(かれら)はその報(むく)を得(え)たり。

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
されど汝断食(なんじだんじき)するときは、汝の頭(あたま)に油(あぶら)ぬり、且(か)つ顔(かお)を洗(あら)へ。

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
是(こ)れ汝の断食(だんじき)すること、人に顕(あらわ)れずして、反(かえ)って隠(かく)れたるに〔おはす〕汝の父に〔顕(あら)はるる］ためなり。されば隠(かく)れたるに視給(みたま)ふ汝(なんじ)の父(ちち)は顕(あらわ)に汝(なんじ)に酬(むく)い給(たま　)ふべし。

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
汝等のために蠧(しみ)と錆(さび)との損(そこな)ふところ、また盗(ぬす)人(びと)の穿(うが)ちて盗(ぬす)む処(ところ)なる地(ひ)に、財(ざい)を蓄(たくわ) ふる勿れ。

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
されど汝等のため、蠧(しみ)と錆(さび)との損(そこな)はざる処(ところ)、且(か)つ盗(ぬすっ)人(と)も穿(うが)たず、また盗(ぬす)まざる処(ところ)の天(あめ)に財(ざい)を蓄(たくわ)へよ。

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
そは汝等の財(ざい)のある処(ところ)、そこに汝等の心(こころ)も在(あ)るべければなり。

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
體(からだ)の燈火(とうか) は目(め)なり。是(これ)の故(ゆえ)に汝の目(め)もし健(すこや)かならば、汝の體(からだ)は全(まった)く明(あかり)たらん。

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness!
されど汝の目(め)もし悪(あ)しからば、汝の體(からだ)は全(まった)く闇(やみ)たるべし。是(これ)の故(ゆえ)に汝のうちの光(ひかり)もし暗(くら)からば、その暗(くら)は如何(どう)ばかりぞや。

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
誰(だれ)も二主(にしゅ)に奴僕(ぬぼく) たること能(あた)はず。そは一(いち)を憎(にく)み、また他(ほか)を愛(あい)し、或(ある)は一(いち)を重(おも)んじ、また他(ほか)を軽(かろ)んずべければなり。汝等神(なんじらかみ)とマモンとに奴僕(ぬぼく)たること能(あた)はず。

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
此(こ)のゆゑにわれ汝等(なんじら)に云(い)はん、汝等の魂(たまし)のために何(なに)を喰(しょく)ひ、また何(なに)を飲(の)み、また體(からだ)のために何(なに)を着(き)るべきかと心遣(こころづか)いする勿(なく)れ。魂(たまし)は食物(しょくもつ)に勝(まさ)り、また體(からだ)は衣(ころも)より〔勝(まさ)る〕にあらずや。

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
空(そら)の鳥(とり)をつらつら視(み)よ、彼等(かれら)は播(ま)かず、また穫(か)らず、また倉(くら)に収(おさ)むることもなし。然(しか)るに天(あめ)なる汝等(なんじら)の父(ちち)はこれを養(やしな)ふぃ給(たま　)ふ。汝等はこれより優(すぐ)るるにあらずや。

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
されど汝等(なんじら)のうち誰(だれ)か心遣(こころつか)ひして、その身丈(みたけ)に寸分(すんぶん)をも加(くわ)ふることを得(え)るや。

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
