Dje (Ђ, ђ; italics: Ђђ) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet.

Dje is the sixth letter of the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet, used in the Serbian language to represent the voiced alveolo-palatal affricate /dʑ/, similar to the English pronunciation of the Latin letter J.

Dje corresponds to the Latin letter D with stroke (Đ, đ) in the Serbian Latin alphabet, and is transliterated thus. It is sometimes transliterated as ‹dj›, although many consider this to be incorrect.

History

Dje was adapted from the letter Cyrillic letter Tshe (Ћ, ћ) by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić.

The letter was also used to write the Serbo-Croatian language prior to the dissolution of Yugoslavia.

The Macedonian letter Gje (Ѓ, ѓ) is considered a cognate to Dje.
