1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated, His disciples came to Him.
C H A P T E R 24 
2 And He opened His mouth and taught them, saying,
1 And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple.
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, there shall not be one stone left here on another, that shall not be thrown down."
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
3 And as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world?"
5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Take heed that no man deceives you.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
5 For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ,' and shall deceive many.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
6 And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. For all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in various places.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
9 "Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and you shall be hated by all nations for My name's sake.
11 "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely for My sake.
10 And then many shall stumble, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
13 "You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its savor, with what shall it be salted? It is thereafter good for nothing but to be cast out and to be trampled underfoot by men.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.
14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
13 But he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.
15 Nor do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come."
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
15 "Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand),
17 "Do not think that I have come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to destroy but to fulfill.
16 then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains.
18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from the law, until all is fulfilled.
17 Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house.
19 Therefore whoever breaks one of these least commandments, and teaches men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does and teaches them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
18 Do not let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no circumstance enter the kingdom of heaven.
19 And woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse children in those days!
21 "You have heard that it was said by those of old, 'You shall not kill, and whoever kills shall be in danger of the judgment.'
20 But pray that your flight is not in the winter or on the Sabbath day.
22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be in danger of the Council. But whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be in danger of hellfire.
21 For then there shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
22 And except those days should be shortened, no flesh would be saved. But for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
23 "Then if any man says to you, 'Behold, here is Christ,' or 'There,' do not believe it.
25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
24 For false christs and false prophets shall arise and shall show great signs and wonders, to such a degree that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
26 Truly, I say to you, you shall by no means come out from there until you have paid the last farthing.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
27 "You have heard that it was said by those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.'
26 "Therefore if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the desert,' do not go forth, or 'Behold, He is in the secret chambers,' do not believe it.
28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
27 For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even to the west, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
29 And if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from you, for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell.
28 For wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you, for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell."
29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
31 "It has been said, 'Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.'
30 And then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
32 But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.
31 And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
33 "Again you have heard that it has been said by those of old, 'You shall not renounce your oath but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.'
32 "Now learn a parable from the fig tree: When its branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne,
33 So you, likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near—even at the doors.
35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool, nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
34 Truly I say to you, this generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.
37 But let your communication be 'Yes, yes' or 'No, no.' For whatever is more than these comes from evil.
36 "But of that day and hour no man knows, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
38 "You have heard that it has been said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
39 But I say to you, do not resist evil. But whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
40 And if any man sues you in court and takes away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
41 And whoever compels you to go a mile, go with him two.
40 Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.
42 Give to him who asks you, and do not turn away from him who would borrow from you.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.
43 "You have heard that it has been said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
42 Watch, therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will come.
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you,
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
45 that you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven. For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at such an hour as you do not think.
46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don't even the tax collectors do the same?
45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
47 And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others? Don't even the tax collectors do so?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord, when he comes, shall find so doing.
48 Therefore be perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect."
47 Truly, I say to you that he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming,'
49 and begins to strike his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
50 the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 and shall cut him in pieces and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
