1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished commanding His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

2 Now when John had heard in the prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples
1 And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple.
3 and said to Him, "Are You He who should come, or do we look for another?"
2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, there shall not be one stone left here on another, that shall not be thrown down."
4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things that you hear and see:
3 And as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world?"
5 the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Take heed that no man deceives you.
6 And blessed is he who shall not be offended by Me."
5 For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ,' and shall deceive many.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
6 And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. For all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
8 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in various places.
9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
10 For this is he of whom it is written: 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who shall prepare Your way before You.'
9 "Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and you shall be hated by all nations for My name's sake.
11 "Truly I say to you, among those who are born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist. However, he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
10 And then many shall stumble, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.
14 And if you will receive it, this is Elijah who is to come.
13 But he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.
15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come."
16 "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the markets and calling to their companions
15 "Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand),
17 and saying, 'We have played the pipe for you, and you have not danced; we have mourned for you, and you have not lamented.'
16 then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'
17 Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house.
19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is justified by her children."
18 Do not let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
20 Then He began to upbraid the cities in which most of His mighty works were done, because they did not repent:
19 And woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse children in those days!
21 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
20 But pray that your flight is not in the winter or on the Sabbath day.
22 But I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment than for you.
21 For then there shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
23 And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, shall be brought down to hell. For if the mighty works that have been done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
22 And except those days should be shortened, no flesh would be saved. But for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
24 But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you."
23 "Then if any man says to you, 'Behold, here is Christ,' or 'There,' do not believe it.
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to infants.
24 For false christs and false prophets shall arise and shall show great signs and wonders, to such a degree that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no man knows the Son but the Father. Nor does any man know the Father except the Son and he to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him."
26 "Therefore if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the desert,' do not go forth, or 'Behold, He is in the secret chambers,' do not believe it.
28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
27 For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even to the west, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
29 Take My yoke on you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls.
28 For wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
30 And then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
32 "Now learn a parable from the fig tree: When its branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
33 So you, likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near—even at the doors.
34 Truly I say to you, this generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.
36 "But of that day and hour no man knows, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
40 Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.
42 Watch, therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will come.
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at such an hour as you do not think.
45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord, when he comes, shall find so doing.
47 Truly, I say to you that he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming,'
49 and begins to strike his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
50 the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 and shall cut him in pieces and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
