1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea.
C H A P T E R 24
2 And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
1 And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. And God Himself shall be with them and be their God.
2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, there shall not be one stone left here on another, that shall not be thrown down."
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or sorrow or crying, nor shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away."
3 And as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world?"
5 And He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Take heed that no man deceives you.
6 And He said to me, "It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. To him who is thirsty I will freely give of the fountain of the water of life.
5 For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ,' and shall deceive many.
7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.
6 And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. For all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in various places.
9 And one of the seven angels that had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come here; I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife."
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
9 "Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and you shall be hated by all nations for My name's sake.
11 having the glory of God. And its light was like a most precious stone, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
10 And then many shall stumble, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
12 And it had a great and high wall, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
13 But he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.
15 And he who talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city and its gates and its wall.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come."
16 And the city is laid out as a square, and the length is as large as the breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
15 "Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand),
17 And he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man— that is, of the angel.
16 then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains.
18 And the building of its wall was of jasper. And the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
17 Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third a chalcedony, the fourth an emerald,
18 Do not let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth a topaz, the tenth a chrysoprase, the eleventh a jacinth, the twelfth an amethyst.
19 And woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse children in those days!
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
20 But pray that your flight is not in the winter or on the Sabbath day.
22 And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
21 For then there shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
23 And the city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it, and the Lamb is its light.
22 And except those days should be shortened, no flesh would be saved. But for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
23 "Then if any man says to you, 'Behold, here is Christ,' or 'There,' do not believe it.
25 And its gates shall not be shut at all by day, for there shall be no night there.
24 For false christs and false prophets shall arise and shall show great signs and wonders, to such a degree that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
27 And in no way shall anything that defiles enter into it, nor whatever works abomination or makes a lie, but those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.
26 "Therefore if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the desert,' do not go forth, or 'Behold, He is in the secret chambers,' do not believe it.
27 For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even to the west, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
28 For wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
30 And then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
32 "Now learn a parable from the fig tree: When its branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
33 So you, likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near—even at the doors.
34 Truly I say to you, this generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.
36 "But of that day and hour no man knows, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
40 Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.
42 Watch, therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will come.
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at such an hour as you do not think.
45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord, when he comes, shall find so doing.
47 Truly, I say to you that he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming,'
49 and begins to strike his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
50 the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 and shall cut him in pieces and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
