1 Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, He said to His disciples,
1 When the morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death.
2 “You know that after two days is the Feast of the Passover, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to be crucified.”
2 And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3 Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled together to the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
3 Then Judas, who had betrayed Him, when he saw that He was condemned, felt sorrowful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 and plotted how they might seize Jesus by deception and kill Him.
4 saying, "I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to that."
5 But they said, “Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.”
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.
6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, "It is not lawful for us to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood."

11 And Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And Jesus said to him, "You say so."
10 When Jesus knew this, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? Since she has performed a good work towards Me.”
12 And when He was accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.
11 Because, you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always.
13 Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?"
12 Because, in pouring this ointment on My body, she did it for My burial.
14 And He did not answer him a word, to such an extent that the governor marveled greatly.

16 And they had then a notable prisoner called Barabbas.
14 Then one of the twelve called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
17 Therefore when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas or Jesus, who is called Christ?"
15 and said to them, “What will you give me, and I will deliver Him to you?” And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
18 For he knew that they had delivered Him because of envy.
16 So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.
19 When he was sitting down on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that just man, for I have suffered many things in a dream this day because of Him."
17 Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will  keep  the  Passover  at  your

house with My disciples.” ’ ”
23 And the governor said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they cried out the more, saying, "Let Him be crucified!"
19  So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they made preparations for the Passover.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but rather that a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it."
20 Now when the evening had come, He sat down with the twelve.
25 Then all the people answered and said, "His blood be on us and on our children."
21 And as they were eating, He said, “Truly I say to you, that one of you will betray me.”
26 Then he released Barabbas to them. And when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.
22 And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, am I the one?”
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall and gathered the whole band of soldiers to Him.
23 And He answered and said, “He who  dips  his  hand  with  Me  in  the

dish, he will betray Me.
29 And when they had woven a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed their knees before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
24 The Son of Man goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”
30 And they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.
25 Then Judas, who betrayed Him, replied and said, “Rabbi, am I the one?” He said to him, “You have said it.”
31 And after they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, and put His own clothing on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled him to bear His cross.
27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it all of you.
33 And when they had come to a place called Golgotha (that is to say, a place of a skull),
28 Because, this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
34 they gave Him vinegar mixed with gall to drink. And when He had tasted it, He would not drink.
29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”  30 And when they had sung a song, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
35 And they crucified Him and divided His garments, casting lots, that what was spoken by the prophet might be fulfilled: "They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots."
31 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble be-cause of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
36 And sitting down, they watched Him there.
32 But after I am raised up again, I will go before you to Galilee.”
37 And set up over His head His written accusation: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
33 Peter replied and said to Him, “Even if all men are made to stumble because of You, yet I will never be made to stumble.”
38 Then two thieves were crucified there with Him, one on the right hand and another on the left.
34 Jesus said to him, “Truly, I say to you, that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
39 And those who passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads
35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, yet I will not deny You!”  And  all  the   disciples  said
40 and saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross."
likewise.
41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking Him with the scribes and elders, said,
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here, while I go and pray over there.”
42 "He saved others; He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe Him.
37 And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be sorrowful and deeply troubled.
43 He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him. For He said, 'I am the Son of God.'"
38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
44 The thieves who were crucified with Him also mocked Him in the same way.
39 And He went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless not as I will, but as You will.”
45 Now from the sixth hour to the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.
40 Then  He   came  to  the   disciples
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"—that is to say, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"
and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, "This man is calling for Elijah."
41 Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
48 And immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave it to Him to drink.
42 He went away again the second time and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
49 The rest said, "Leave Him alone. Let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him."
43 And He came and found them asleep again, because their eyes were heavy.
50 Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the spirit.
44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. And the earth quaked, and the rocks split,
45 Then He came to His disciples, and said to them, “Sleep on now and take your rest. Behold, the hour
52 and the graves were opened. And many bodies of the saints who slept arose,
is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
53 and came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the holy city and appeared to many.
46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”
54 Now when the centurion and those who were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."
47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
55 And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there watching afar off,
48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.”
56 among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
49 And immediately he went up to Jesus, and said, “Greetings Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
57 When the evening had come, there came a rich man of Arimathea named Joseph, who himself was also Jesus' disciple.
50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
58 He went to Pilate and begged for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.
59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, because all those who take the sword will die by the sword.
60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre and departed.
53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?
61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting across from the sepulchre.
54 But how then shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen this way?”
62 Now the next day, which followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together to Pilate,
55 In that same hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against  a  thief  with  swords  and

clubs to take Me? I sat with you daily, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me.
64 Therefore command that the sepulchre be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So the last error shall be worse than the first."
56 But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him, and fled.
65 Pilate said to them, "You have a guard. Go your way. Make it as secure as you can."
57 And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
66 So they went and made the sepulchre secure, sealing the stone, and setting a guard.
58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s court-yard and went in and sat with the servants to see the end.
59 Now the chief priests, elders, and all the council, sought false test-imony against Jesus, to put Him to death,
60 but found none. Yes, although many false witnesses came for-ward, yet they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward
61 and said, “This Man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ “
62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer no-thing? What is it that these witness against You?”
63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest responded and said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”
64 Jesus said to Him, “You have said it, nevertheless I say to you all, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”
65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!
66 what do you think?” They an-swered and said, “He is worthy of death.”
67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands,
68 saying, “Prophesy to us, You Christ! Who is the one who struck You?”
69 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, You were also with Jesus of Galilee.
70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”
71And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him, and said to those who were there, “This man was also with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man.”
73 And after a while those who stood by came up to him and said to Peter, “Surely you also are one of them, because your speech exposes you.”
74 Then he began to curse and to swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” And immediately the rooster crowed.
75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So he went out and wept bitterly.
