1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitude and to His disciples,
C H A P T E R 24 
2 saying, "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
  1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple.
3 Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do that. But do not do according to their works. For they say, and do not do.
  2 And Jesus said to them: “Do you not see all these things? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.
4 For they bind heavy burdens, and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders. But they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
  3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when shall these things happen? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
5 But they do all their works to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments,
  4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Beware that no one deceives you.
6 and love the best places at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
  5 For  many  will  come  in  My name,
7 and greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.'
saying, ‘I am Christ,’ and will deceive many.
8 But you, do not be called 'Rabbi.' For One is your Master, even Christ, and all you are brothers.
  6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; because, all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
9 And do not call any man on the earth your father, for One is your Father, who is in heaven.
  7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
10 Do not be called masters, for One is your Master, even Christ.
  8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.
  9 Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.
12 And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
  10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
13 "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men. For you neither go in yourselves nor allow those who are entering to go in.
  11 Then many false prophets will rise up and will deceive many.
14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you shall receive the greater damnation.
  12 And because iniquity will abound, the  love  of  many  will  go
15 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

16 "Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing. But whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!'
  13 But he who endures to the end, they will be saved.
17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
  14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.
18 And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing. But whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is guilty.'
  15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place,” (whoever reads, let him understand),
19 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
  16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
20 Therefore whoever swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it.
  17 Let  him  who is on  the housetop
21 And whoever swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it.

23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law: judgment, mercy, and faith. These you ought to have done, and not leave the others undone.

  18 nor let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
25 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you make the outside of the cup and of the platter clean, but inside they are full of extortion and excess.
  19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babes in those days!
26 You blind Pharisee! First clean what is inside the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
  20 And pray that your flight may not be in the winter nor on the Sabbath day.
27 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed sepulchres that indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and of all uncleanness.
  21 Because, then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever will be.
28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
  22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.
29 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
  23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is Christ,’ or ‘There!’ Do not believe it.
30 and say, 'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.'
  24 Because, false christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders; so much so  that, if  it  were  possible,   they
31 "Therefore you are witnesses to yourselves that you are the children of those who killed the prophets.

32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.
  25 Behold, I have told you in ad-vance.
33 You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell?
  26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the secret chambers!’ Do not believe it.
34 Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes. And some of them you shall kill and crucify, and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,
  27 Because, as the lightning comes out of the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.
  28 Because, wherever the corpse is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
36 Truly I say to you, all these things shall come on this generation.
  29 Immediately after the tribulation
37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you. How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not!

38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
ened, and the moon will not give her light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
39 For I say to you, you shall not see Me from now on until you shall say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.'"
  30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
  31 And He will send His angels with a large sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
  32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch is still tender and grows out leaves, you know that summer is near.
  33 So you likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors!
  34 Truly, I say to you, this gen-eration will not pass away, until all these things are fulfilled.
  35 Heaven and earth will pass away,
but My words will not pass away.
  36 But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
  37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  38 Because, as in the days that were
before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
  39  and did not know until the flood
came  and  took  them  all  away, so
also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  40 Then two will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.
  41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
  42 Therefore watch, because, you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
  43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
  44 Therefore you likewise be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
  45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to provide them with food in the appropriate season?
  46 Blessed is that servant, whom his master, when he comes, will find doing that.
  47 Truly, I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
  48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’
  49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
  50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,
  51  and will cut him in two,  and  ap-point him his portion with the hypocrites. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

C H A P T E R 24
