Minuscule 395
Minuscule 395 (in the Gregory-Aland numbering), ε 216 (Soden), is a Greek minuscule manuscript of the New Testament, on parchment. Paleographically it had been assigned to the 12th century.[1]
Description
The codex contains the text of the four Gospels on 170 parchment leaves (28 cm by 20.9 cm). Written in two columns per page, in 25 lines per page.[1] It contains the tables of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonian Sections (Mark 234), Eusebian Canons, pictures, and marginal corrections.[2]
It is a palimpsest. The text of minuscule 395 is the upper text of the palimpsest. The lower text is unidentified, written in two columns with 30 lines in colums.[2]
Text
The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the Byzantine text-type. Aland placed it in Category V.[3]
History
The manuscript was bought about 1756 A.D.[2] The manuscript was added to the list of New Testament manuscripts by Scholz (1794-1852).[4]
The manuscript is currently housed at the Biblioteca Casanatense (165) in Rome.[1]
